Lifestyle Retailer DwellStudio Plans To Reach Larger Consumer Base By Lowering Price-Points, But Not Quality

Furniture Today has reported on the company DwellStudio and their plans to integrate more furniture categories and introduce lower prices for their home furnishing products.

DwellStudio operates as an online retailer for lifestyle goods, and was acquired by Wayfair in August 2013. They have successfully maintained a quality assortment of designer goods for customers, but new efforts have been implemented in order to reach a wider range of customers. The answer has come in the form of lowering their product offering's prices "without sacrificing attention to quality and design."

Christiane Lemieux, DwellStudio founder and Wayfair Executive Creative Director, told attendees of High Point Market yesterday that the new products would be launched next year, in April 2015.

With current sofa prices ranging up to $4,000, Lemieux stated, "Consumers will find the same kinds of looks for $1,200 to $2,000 and new product categories including wood bedroom furniture (in addition to upholstered headboards now), home office and dining room furniture."

New products are slowly arriving on the site, but the real product shift will be obvious come April. Lemieux told Furniture Today, "It has been a really interesting 12 months of product development, of resourcing, of teaching our new factories how to do really high-end finishes at price points many more people can afford."
