Apple Watch For One-Day Viewing At Salone del Mobile
Apple Watch will be displayed for public viewing for a day at the Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan as reported by Wallpaper Magazine. This will be the first time that Apple Watch can be viewed and tried on in a public setting outside of its retail store or in a pop up show. It debuted September of last year in Colette, a boutique in Paris.
Today, Friday, April 17, Carlo e Camilla restaurant in Segheria will be hosting the display for the one-day event. However, Apple Watch will not be available for purchase in Italy just yet. Since its first wave launch, the gadget can only be bought in Germany, France and the United Kingdom. There is still no word as to when the company is planning to hold their second wave launch.
Jony Ive, Apple’s senior VP for Design said, “Salone del Mobile has such a deep-rooted history of embracing excellence in design so I’m particularly excited to celebrate our newest and most personal product, alongside our friends and fellow designers, at this special event.”
Ive added, “Creating beautiful objects, respecting craftmanship and focusing on a design process that’s driven by the deepest care, utility and end use, has been our goal since the beginning.”
Although the Salone del Mobile design fair is internationally known as the main exhibit hub for furniture and design accessories, other products outside of the furnishing sector also make an appearance at the event. Apple is not a part of the exhibitor’s list hence the choice to hold the event in a restaurant in Milan and not within the exhibition hall.
Currently, Apple Watch can be pre-ordered online in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, China, Japan, and Australia. As supplies are constrained, new orders of the Apple Watch are estimated to arrive no earlier than June.
