'The 100' Season 4 News & Update: New Season Starts With Low Views; Jasper Character Death Predicted?
The CW's "The 100" is finally back with season 4, however, the survival drama is off to a rough start as the season-debut has hit an all time low. The post-apocalyptic survival show returned with its fourth season on a night with less competition but still failed to get a whoppingly positive amount of views.
The night that "The 100" Season 4 made its premiere, two of the five big broadcasting networks were airing repeats. Ideally, this should have created a window of opportunity for networks that were airing new episodes, not to mention a season premiere. However, the numbers are in and the season premiere of "The 100" Season 4 has gone down three-tenths of a point from the show's Season 3 premiere.
The first episode of "The 100" Season 4 took home a rating of 0.4 and 1.27 million viewers. Variety reports that this is significantly lower as compared to what the Season 3 premiere had to boast. If compared to the ratings and views of the Season finale of "The 100" Season 3, Wednesday night's premiere of the post-apocalyptic drama had lower numbers as well. The end of Season 3 was able to hit a 0.5 rating with 1.31 million viewers.
According to Deadline, the reason behind the decline in ratings and viewership of "The 100" Season 4 is the much weaker lead-in. Last year's "The 100" Season 3 had The CW's "DC's Legends Of Tomorrow" as its opening, thus creating a stronger boost for the survival drama. However, "The 100" Season 4 is now on a new night with the lead-in of "Arrow," which turns out to be not as strong as what the had last year.
Despite the decline in rating and viewership, avid fans of "The 100" Season 4 are still in for the same thrilling survival stress that the drama offers. There are many predictions on character deaths for this season and Inverse has shared their top five bets for Season 4 Deaths.
Apparently, Jasper is on the list of Season 4 character death predictions as his performance in Season 3 consisted of him drinking and wasting away due to the loss of his lover, Maya. It is also worth mentioning that Jasper's character was meant to die in Season 1 via a spear thru the heart, however, since many loved his character, his death was written off. Nonetheless, Jasper in Season 3 definitely looked he was getting ready to bite the dust, especially after his last minute decision to ingest the key, nearly jeopardizing Clarke's plan to shut down Allie One.
Another interesting character death prediction is that of Abby Griffin. With the variety of genres that "The 100" features, coming of age, politics, military strategy and dystopia, the show is basically coming towards a parentless path. The same report suggests that dead parents are a norm for stories of the coming of age and dystopia genre. Moreover, "The 100" Season 3 proved that there is no bias when it comes to killing off their protagonists' love ones. Lexa's death is solid proof, not to mention the show started off with Clarke being fatherless. Abby's death would definitely be emotional and can trigger a massive amount of conflict, plus character growth for Clarke.
A whole new load of excitement is coming for fans in "The 100" Season 4. Make sure to catch the new eopisodes airing on Wednesdays on The CW.
