Window Wanderland: Unique Window Art Showcase in Bristol

Bristol is one of the places where art expression is always welcome. Graffiti can be seen on walls lined up in a spectacular manner. One such art expression is Window Wanderland.

Window Wanderland was featured in BBC network's site. It says that Lucy Reeves, an artist, came up with the concept of Window Wanderland. To further elaborate, Reeves said that her inspiration was her finding entertainment in looking into houses where curtains are left open.

The arts trail started around 2015 in Bishopston where they held their first Window Wanderland. So what is Window Wanderland? It is a place where most of the residents in a certain neighborhood decorate their windows with different themes. If you walk along this area, you would find yourself in the middle of an outdoor art gallery.

Ever since that star, Window Wanderland has grown bigger with shops and houses joining in and giving their own unique take on this art movement. The art and display are so varied that you can enjoy their schemes and marvel at each window. Themes this year included a collage of the face of Prince, one of the greatest names in American music. Early last year, Prince passed away and the collage on the window can be dubbed as a commemoration for the late musician.

Other themes that can be seen in Window Wanderland are based on pop culture such as Minecraft, Jaws, and E.T. Aside from the colorful displays, some windows actually play around with stencils and shadows that play with the lighting in the back. Speaking of lighting, some windows also use lighting effects like lasers, Christmas lights, and colored lights. Some can be lighthearted and comical and others can be dark and serious.

Aside from Bristol, they have expanded to other areas that are open to being part of Window Wanderland. This year, they are persuading Strathbungo in Glasgow to join in. They mentioned in their website their upcoming events. Some of them would start this February 25 in separate locations. It's a treat for the eyes that people won't want to miss.
