'The Batman' News & Update: Ben Afleck Quits Batman Role?
After "The Accountant" actor Ben Affleck announced he will not direct "The Batman" movie, he had reported that he doesn't want to play the role of Batman anymore. According to a new report, the actor is now having a crisis with his confidence, questioning if he could direct and star in a big-budget superhero movie.
The actor has lost his confidence because his passion project titled, "Live by Night" bombed at the box office. About $75 million have been lost for Warner Bros., according to Comic Book.
After Affleck has been confirmed that he will no longer helm "The Batman" movie, "Cloverfield" and "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes" director Matt Reeves is in talks to helm the superhero movie. In a previous report, Affleck said he wants to focus on the acting side that's why he stepped down as a director.
The latest "The Batman" movie news suggests that "The Accountant" actor doesn't want to play the role of Batman as well. In the latest episode of "Collider Movie Talk," John Campea, a film critic, and video blogger said that some of his sources told him that the actor doesn't want to play the role. However, Campea said he could be wrong and offered a disclaimer after giving the statements.
"They're telling me (referring to the three sources) that, Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out. He doesn't want to be Batman anymore," Campea said.
As of the moment, "The Batman" movie has no official release date from Warner Bros. Despite the rumors and dramas, Affleck is expected to appear as Batman in the upcoming movie, "Justice League," which will be premiered on November 17, 2017.
