Dozen of Design, Garden and Architecture Books will Debut this April
The spring season is setting in and what better time to explore the world of design, decor, garden and architecture than now. This April 2014, 12 new books will be released.
Garden
“An Invitation to the Garden” by Michael Devine: Devine explores the possibility of how a garden can be transformed into the perfect location for outdoor events for every season. Aside from the amazing and exquisite garden dining settings are recipes, tablescapes and garden decor that will fit any occasion. Charlotte Moss writes the foreword for the book.
Architecture
“One Man’s Folly” by Julia Reed. Reed presents Furlow Gatewood’s private domestic space in Americus, Georgia. Gatewood was able to restore the structure that demonstrates the concepts of architecture spanning from mid-19th century Gothic to Palladian style. Bunny Williams provides the foreword.
“Prefabulous World” by Sheri Koones. Koones looks at the unlimited possibilities of prefabrication to create energy-efficient, green residences in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, United States, Canada, England, Germany, South Africa, among others. The book features the exteriors, interiors and floor plans of every home. It also includes resources on architects and industry professionals who can help anyone achieve well-built, aesthetically-pleasing and eco-friendly homes.
Decor and Design
“George Stacey and the Creation of American Chic” by Maureen Footer. Footer explores George Stacey’s projects with Frances Chenery and Diana Vreeland that caught the interest of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Town and Country. Mario Buatta provides the foreword and gives readers an insight into his design career.
“Decorate Fearlessly” by Sussana Salks. Salks presents beautifully-photographed homes designed by notable designers such as Jonathan Adler, Ashley Hicks, Mary McDonald and Alex Papachristidis, among others.
“Living in New York Style” by Vanessa von Bismarck. The 200-page book will entertain readers as they go through an exclusive tour of the most luxurious, imaginative and private high-end living spaces in New York.
“Classic Florida Style: The Houses of Taylor & Taylor” by Beth Dunlop. The book features 10 coastal residences designed by husband and wife duo Phyllis and William Taylor.
“Do I Look Skinny in this House? How to Feel Great in your Home Using Design Psychology” by Kelli Ellis. Design cam co-founder Ellis creates a dialogue within the realms of “design psychology” and the “why” of how designers design.
“Linens” For Every Room and Every Occasion” by Jane Scott Hodges. The book introduces readers to the art and beauty of exquisite linens and how these linens can help personalize, create moods or change the look of the home without the need to redecorate. Foreword is written by Charlotte Moss.
“Szenasy, Design Advocate” Writings and Talks by Metropolis Magazine Editor Susan S. Szenasy” by Susan Szenasy. This book serves as a collection of the author’s editorials, reviews, profiles, stories, lectures, and many more, all of which voice out the designer’s challenging opinions.
“Modern Originals: At Home with Mid-Century European Designers” by Leslie Williamson. Williamson presents the homes of Europe’s most notable movers in architecture and design during the middle of the century. The book features richly-photographed domestic spaces of Le Corbusier, Finn Juhl, Alvar Aalto, Gae Aulenti and Robin and Lucienne Day, among others.
“The Art of House” by Bobby McAlpine and Susan Ferrier. This book is a follow up from the duo’s “The Home Within Us” and discusses the principles of their work. The architect and interior designer team-up also discusses how to create atmospheric environments.
