Israeli Architect Pitsou Kedem's AB House Features Screens With Perforated Geometric Design
Pitsou Kedem, an Israeli architect, is known for his extra-ordinary house in the suburb of Tel Aviv. Named AB House, it features screens with a perforated geometric design that helps control the flow of air, light and the view.
The AB House of Kedem covers 770 square meters of a 1,800-square-meter plot in the neighborhood of Kfar Shmaryahu, north of the Israeli city. It is made up of two interconnected volumes - long concrete box extending into a reflecting pool, while the other one is a taller perpendicular rendered structure.
Kedem's building, which is noted to have simple forms and finishes are reported to be a typical example of his projects. These projects include a home with surrounding screens that reference a traditional latticework and a property that features bands of shutters with the same geometric design.
As for the AB House, the architect used painted metal screens, or the evocative of netting, to different internal and external surfaces. According to reports, the netting meanders throughout the house like as if marking out a series of contours. Meantime, the entrance of the house features the screens that give a partial view of Kadem's AB House, extending towards the rear of the plot, while continuing across a rendered wall of the front door, Dezeen reported.
Moreover, the corner of the adjacent dining room of Kedem's house is fully-glazed, with walls retracted to connect the space with the extra dining area sheltered beneath a projecting upper store. Also, the staircases added behind the storage units of the kitchen lead up to the bedrooms, and down to the basement with more lounge areas, more guestrooms and a gym.
As for the bedrooms of Kedem on the upper floor arranged along a landing, they look down over a circulation void situated by a concrete wall. Every room opens onto the balcony, overlooking a pool on the other side, Ramatbeitshemesh reported. Learn about Oscar Ono | Float House by Pitsou Kedem Architects here:
