Auction Events this May
The seasonal Hutter’s Estate Auction will kick off on May 17 in New York and will feature fine and decorative arts such as a Rufino Tamayo lithograph, a Daum France vase and an antique Italian chest.
For the next two Tuesdays (May 13 and May 20), Christie’s will be holding an Interiors Sale which will auction off furniture pieces, mirrors, accessories, carpet and sculptures. On May 20, Christie’s Design auction will also feature collectible designer pieces from British furniture designer Zeev Aram.
Also on May 20 is the start of the Important Italian Glass Auction which will feature impressive Murano glass collection Dimiti Levas. Levas’ collection dates back from 1979 as well as purchases from the legendary Fifty/50 gallery in New York. The auction will sell of more than 200 works from iconic glass masters including Napoleone Martinuzzi, Artisti Barovier and Artistica Barovier, Fulvio Bianconi, Carlo Scarpa, Tomaso Buzzi, Dino Marten, Paolo Venini and Eugene Berman.
On May 21, the Important English & Continental Furniture & Decorations sale will display a vast collection of important English & Continental pieces including furniture, porcelain, Georgian silver, decorations, clocks, chandeliers, sconces, tapestries, rugs and sculptures. The highlight of the auction will be a pair of George I gilt gesso pier mirrors, William and Mary oyster veneered cabinet and a George IV Irish sterling silver salver.
Lastly, on May 22, Thursday, The English Collector along with 4 Culcross Street will presenting an auction from the Collection of John Hardy which will include furniture and decorative pieces such as the Napoleon III Ormolu bronze and white marble mantel clock, a three-branch candelabra painted in bronze from the Regency period and a George III mahogany hall chair.
