Tony Montana's 'Scarface' Mansion Is On The Market
The 108-year-old mansion notably used in the movie 'Scarface' is on sale for $35 million.
Located near Santa Barbara, California, - and not Miami, like in the film - the decadent white mansion built in 1906 on 10 acres of land has been put on the market, writes The Daily Mail.
The four-bedroom, nine-bathroom, Roman-style home is named 'El Fureidis,' or Tropical Paradise, according to the home's listing.
Acclaimed turn-of-the-century architect Bertram Goodhue designed the home for James Waldron Gillespie.
The interior of the mansion recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation to modernize the living spaces, while still keeping the majority of the original fixtures in place.
The estate's grounds are filled with Persian gardens, sculptures, fountains and pools.
The rooms, including three guest suites on the top floor, display gold-leaf ceilings, tiled walls and woodwork carvings.
The main room or 'conversation room' is 'a Byzantine-style alcove crowned with an 18-foot-high central dome that is decorated with a floral hand painted, gold and blue design in 24k gold-leaf modeled after the church of St. John Lateran in Rome,' according to the listing.
According to the listing, the formal dining room has a barrel ceiling 'painted in 24k gold leaf and depicting a scene of Alexander the Great conquering Persepolis by Henry Wadsworth Moore,' with the artist's original signature remains on the artwork.
The rooftop has a number of incredible views to behold - with views of the entire property, Pacific Ocean and even the Channel Islands, visible from different spots.
The property also boasts unique palm trees surrounding the grounds - that are rumored to be the source of the trees now used in Disneyland's 'Adventureland' and 'Jungle Cruise' rides, writes The Daily Mail.
The property's most attributable feature, of course, is its place in cinematic history as the main residence of Al Pacino's Tony Montana in 'Scarface'.
The estate was last sold in 2009 for upwards of $6 million, according to property records. The El Fureidis LLC Corporation currently owns the property.
