Bollywood’s Mahek Chahal Opens Interior Design School
Bollywood star Mahek Chahal recently launched INIFD Academy of Interiors in Himayatnagar in Hyderabad. The school will be mentored and directed by Bollywood Diva & Celebrity Interior Designer Twinkle Khanna.
INIFD is the state’s first design school and belongs with to the nationwide chain of Center for Interior Designing Education. The academy is launched within the INIFD brand or the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design. The programs are exclusively offered and supported by giants in the industry such as Duravit Living Bathrooms and CIA International.
INIFD Academy of Interiors offers two-year specialization program, three-year specialization program, two-year advance program and one-year foundation program in Interior Design.
Twinkle Khanna poses as the chief mentor of the institute. Other mentors include Massimo Ottone, head of CIA International, Sundeep Kocchar, Wasim Khan, and Tarak Shan, the country head in India for Italian furniture brand Minotti. Khanna will be primarily guiding the students to succeed within India’s growing interior design industry. Khanna will also encourage the students to become interns for interior designers in the country and within her firm as well.
Currently, there is an increasing demand for professional interior designers within the country. With the rising number of establishments within India, there is also a high need for industry professionals to create interior environments for retail, hospitality, corporate spaces, institutions, residential interiors and so much more. There is also a growing need for related fields including exhibition design, sales, visual merchandising, real estate, and lighting design. INIFD Academy of Interiors aims to provide for such needs as this is the first school exclusively focused in Interior Design education.
Mahek said that students who want to work in the industry will need to receive a design education for them to become successful professionals in the future. With the notable roster of mentors and Mahek, the school hopes to produce graduates that will thrive and succeed in the growing Interior Design industry in India.
