A Dual House Concept

Essentially, the Skyhaven Residence comprises two homes, with their locations sheltered beneath one vast roof, and this is for the client and her parent. Combining privacy and comfort in each residence with common areas that serve as a source of unity and family togetherness, the whole massing strategy becomes the basis for a socio-spatial structure that satisfies all inhabitants' needs. Through the contemplation of the seemingly inexhaustible natural resources of the site for the creation of the open-air Skyhaven Residence that will also function as a "balcony/belvedere" in nature. Markedly, the graceful arch-shaped design that copies the curvature of the whole place provides a picturesque view that blends the residents into the green air of the surroundings.

Innovative Design Solutions

To decimate the negative impact on the rolled back construction on sloping terrain, BLANKPAGE Architects has designed specific strategies. Two floors protrude into the cliff top side, and the corbels used in the construction work ensure that space is utilized to the maximum and that excavation is kept at the minimum. Integrating outdoor and indoor areas is undeniably one of the Skyhaven Residence's signature designs. The living spaces of this building don't seem only human; the floor-to-ceiling glazed walls eliminate the boundaries and open up the places to the outside. This gives residents as much exposure to nature as possible.

Multi-Purpose Entrance Space

The common entrance to both houses serves as a versatile outdoor space, ideal for family gatherings and socializing. This semi-covered area is a hub for spontaneous interactions, fostering community and togetherness among residents. An arrival platform with an infinity pool above and a car park below is a transitional space between the access road and the main house. The pool deck, connected to the villa's roof via a bridge, offers an additional open-air lounge area, perfect for relaxation and entertainment.

Innovative Construction Materials

BLANKPAGE Architects employed a blend of materials to achieve both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. The base of the villa features an inner fair-faced concrete shell and an outer corrugated concrete one, lending a mineral effect that complements the natural surroundings. The landscape design of the Skyhaven Residence is informed by both the house's geometry and the site's topography. Lawn terraces radiate from the villa towards the valley, gradually transitioning into prairie-like vegetation. A semi-buried office pavilion with a green roof and retractable skylight seamlessly integrates with the terraced landscape.
