HTC One (M8) DotView Case Gets New Functionality With Update
The HTC One M8's DotView case is getting a step up in functionality thanks to a new app update from HTC,Pocket-Lint reports.
The case, which previously allowed users to check out the time, weather, and receive notifications on texts, emails and calls without operating their phone, now brings wallpaper customization, new settings and more.
The most notable new feature is a redial mode, which allows users to call back their three most recent callers by simply swiping upwards once. To go through texts, emails, voicemails and call notifications, users simply need to swipe once left or right.
The free DotView app download's wallpaper customization offers 18 new designs, along with the option to use your own image of choice via the gallery or camera.
A few weeks ago, the DotView Case was reportedly opened up for third-party app notifications.
Users of the new HTC flagship smartphone who have rooted their phone, are running a deodexed ROM and have signature verification disabled can take advantage of the mod, which is called Venom DotView Notifications. As Android-Headlines notes, the app works very similarly to the Galaxy Gear's notification app, as users simply need to scroll down the list of available apps installed and check the box next to the ones they want to see shown on the DotView case, turn off the phone and enjoy.
Android Beat adds that users can also customize the default color for the DotView built-in notifications and Weather widget.
The new HTC One (M8) packs a 5-inch, full HD 1080p screen, a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, Sense 6.0, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a 2800 mAh battery, microSD support and three cameras, including two on the back that can "sense depth and capture photographs that can be selectively focused after they have been snapped," according to Digital Spy.
