Morocco to Host 2030 World Cup with New Renders of Grand Stade Hassan II Stadium
Oualalou + Choi and Populous, with contributions from other firms such as Herzog & de Meuron, Zaha Hadid Architects, and Foster + Partners, has revealed Grand Stade Hassan II Stadium's new render.
According to Parametrics Architecture, Grand Stade Hassan II is located in Benslimane, 40 kilometers from Casablanca, Morocco. The 115,000-seat football arena is also set to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Tarik Oualalou, founding partner at Oualalou + Choi, shared his vision for the stadium: "The Grand Stade de Casablanca is deeply rooted in Moroccan culture, with its traditions and contemporary expressions. It's a generous space, open to the world and respectful to the nature it protects. The Grand Stade de Casablanca is the embodiment of the great tradition of Moroccan hospitality."

Morocco's Grand Stade Hassan II Stadium
The design of the stadium was inspired by Moroccan heritage, particularly the traditional Moussem tents, as reflected in the translucent, tent-like structure of its roof and the angular columns that support it.
According to Stadium Business, besides respect for the Moroccan tradition, this arena opens with a modern look with a nod to the local customs of the country. At the same time, it will also make use of low-carbon materials such as CarbonX, aiming at an EnergyStar certificate and energy efficiency of 45-60% compared to other buildings.
The design also features specific components against extreme weather conditions and high wind speeds to guarantee the functionality and durability for further events.
Engineering firms Maffeis Engineering and Rider Levett Bucknall are overseeing the construction in relation to FIFA's standards required for hosting major football events.
