Miami’s Upcoming 54-Story Skyscraper to be City’s Second Tallest

Foster + Partners revealed a 54-story mixed-use skyscraper for Miami's Brickell neighborhood, set to become the new headquarters for the hedge fund Citadel. The 1,032-foot-tall tower will be the second tallest in Miami, featuring 34 floors of office space, 212 hotel rooms, and various retail outlets, with construction starting in 2025, per Arch Daily.

The project, spearheaded by Philadelphia's Gattuso Development Partners, aims to create a landmark in the city.

Miami's New Skyscraper

The early conceptual renderings reveal a sleek, tapered design with rounded corners and a louvered shading system.

At the base of the tower, there will be restaurants and shops. The skyscraper will also have many amenities, including conference rooms, a grand ballroom, a swimming pool, fitness areas, and a spa. These features are meant to serve both business and leisure activities, making the building a versatile and useful space.

Nigel Dancey, Head of Studio at Foster + Partners, emphasized the design's integration with its environment. "The tower's tapered form unifies its various functions, enhances structural efficiency, and creates an elegant marker on the Miami skyline," he said. "An environmentally responsive facade draws on Florida's vernacular architecture, with a louvered shading system to create a comfortable internal environment, while maximizing views out from this amazing location."

This new development adds to Miami's growing list of notable skyscrapers. 

Recent designs by OMA, KPF, and Kengo Kuma and Associates also reflect a trend toward high-impact architectural projects in the city.
