QPK Design Awarded $9.9 Million Contract With U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

QPK Design was awarded a $9.9 million contract with the the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Friday, according to Syracuse.com.

The Syracuse-based firm was one of 12 that submitted bids for the contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, according to The Pentagon.

The company was founded as Quinlivan and Pierik in 1958 by Jack Quinlivan and Pete Pierik. Al Krause joined the two in 1960 and in 1992 the company was transitioned to its current owners.

QPK Design is a multifaceted firm that includes, architects, interior designers, landscape architects and digital modeling and animation specialists, according to its website. Most recently, the firm was involved in a high-profile project with COR Development to design a new sports stadium for Syracuse University.

It has a rich design history that includes many different facilities and previous work with the government and on academic buildings.

Michael P. O'Shea, a QPK partner, told Syracuse.com the planning of a new facility at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point will be part of the contract. A number of other projects, of various types could follow.

Future projects will be in a variety of locations in New York state and within the Army Corps North Atlantic Division boundaries, according to The Pentagon.

The contracts with the Army will help QPK Design maintain its roughly 65 employees, but will not prompt any expansion, O'Shea said.
