Gmail’s New Version Comes With Shortcuts to Account App; Here’s How to Use It
Google has recently released a new version for Gmail, v7.2, and it now comes with new and customizable shortcuts based on the user’s needs. The new version is already in the process of being available to every Android user which should happen anytime soon.
According to Android Headlines, the old version of Gmail only comes with “Compose” shortcut that quickly opens the compose email of the user’s primary account. In the new version, the user does not only have the same “Compose” shortcut for the primary account but for every account in the smartphone. In this way, users will have an easier time sending emails using different accounts.
In addition, the new version also comes with pin features so they can add their customized shortcuts on the home screen. With this new feature, the users not only have easy access to the app but also in their smartphone’s home screen. However, Android Police reported that the shortcuts only work up to three different email address. For users using more than three Gmail accounts, it is not also clear whether they are allowed to choose which account can get the shortcut or will it only be available for the first three account in the smartphone.
The new version is already up in Google Play Store and should be available to all Android users soon. For users that have already received the update, they should see the changelog now that explains the features the new version comes with which is by doing a long press on the icon for quick access to the compose feature.
The new version can be used by any smartphone running on Android 7.1 Nougat update. The first shortcut feature was made for this Android version so it is already expected that this new update will run in the same version.
