Last night, much like every other Met Gala night, viewers around the world tuned in online to the event from their TV screens, comfortably clad in not-so-glamorous sweatpants, casually typing their opinions on the dresses via their computers. It's a tradition many enjoy, especially with the UK switching to daylight savings time, offering a delightful wait for arrivals and colorful, thematic decor. This year's theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, with a dress code inspired by The Garden of Time, added to the event's magical atmosphere, with some of the best outfits seen in years gracing the green carpet, itself adorned in ethereal green and delicate foliage.

Interiors Eye at the Gala

Apart from just establishing the item, an interior design is necessary for many to see the beauties of the place and how they use them in their residential or commercial space. The theme is strikingly similar to the modern interior design standards from the jewel-toned colors, nature-inspired influences, and romantic fairytale-like styles, some of the popular ones to date. Where fashion and interior design meet, they become symbiotic as the colors, brands, and trends spotted in nature reflect those loved by the interiors. There was no way of knowing that iconic paint brand Farrow & Ball would also be in on it, developing particular color and pattern patterns inspired by the best looks of the 2024 Met Gala.

The Color Palette

Farrow & Ball's Instagram post featured outfits from Zendaya, Deborah Roberts, Gwendoline Christie, Giovanna Engelbert, Anok Yai, Imaan Hammam, Karlie Kloss, and Jamie Dornan, each matched with a Farrow & Ball paint or wallpaper. The swatches offered a vivid representation of the event's palette, characterized by rich jewel tones, dark reds, and contrasting pale pastels.

From Fashion to Interiors

Charlotte Crossby, Farrow & Ball's Creative Director, highlighted the influence of fashion on interior trends, emphasizing the interplay of color, materials, and silhouettes. The ethereal, gothic vibe of many Met Gala looks inspired a selection of nuanced shades and complex layering, reflecting the event's theme of reawakening fashion.

Embracing Inspiration

The post encouraged viewers to translate fashion looks into interiors, emphasizing the power of color as inspiration. Zendaya's iconic deep blue gown, for instance, inspired a moody blue color palette perfect for a cozy living room makeover. The revival of ornate design styles like Regency and Victorian further complemented the gothic aesthetic, aligning with 2024 color trends.

Interior Trends Transcend Fashion

Members of the H&G team shared their favorite looks that transcend fashion and translate seamlessly into interior design. Jennifer Ebert admired the juxtaposition of deep reds with soft pastel hues, a trend seen on the runway and in home decor. Megan Slack drew inspiration from Deborah Roberts's yellow gown, reminiscent of traditional French design, and envisioned incorporating similar bucolic scenes into interior spaces.

Bringing Fashion Home

In summary, the Met Gala boasted more than just an event of fashion styles; it became a download of new trends for interior fans worldwide. The runway reported a range of jewel tones, nature-inspired themes, and trends that comfortably echo from the catwalks straight into homes, making it evident that the friends of fashion and interior design, even of the two materials, have well a knot of an eternal tie.
