Samsung Galaxy Alpha Launch To Feature Limited Supply At Aug. Release Date: Rumors
Samsung's long-awaited flagship smartphone with a metal casing, recently dubbed the Galaxy Alpha, may only be available in limited quantity at its launch, GForGames reports.
The publication claims that with Apple controlling most metal case manufacturers in Taiwan and a lack of the manufacturers located in Samsung's home turf of Korea, the company has been forced to look to China for the device's launch - a task the manufacturers in the country will not be able to handle in time for the rumored Aug. 13 release date.
This, of course, also could suggests the smartphone will be a limited-edition handset.
Meanwhile, the Korea Herald reports that Sammy is planning on going smaller with the Galaxy Alpha by adding a 4.7-inch screen to give it a clear comparison vs. Apple. The smartphone is also being tipped for a 6mm-thin body. Previous leaks have suggested that the iPhone 6 will be similarly thin.
Furthermore, according to ETNews, the device will debut on in August, suggesting the premium smartphone will beat out competitor Apple's unveiling of its new, larger iPhones. The publication adds that the Galaxy Alpha will pack a metal body that looks like a cross between the the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note and will be aimed vs. the flagship competitors the LG G3 and iPhone 6.
Leaker @evleaks previously offered up what he claimed to be a press render of the Galaxy Alpha.
While the image kicked back up speculation that the smartphone will feature a heart-rate sensor, GSMArena notes the image could be photoshopped, as the website claims it looks "suspiciously like last month's "perfect gold" shot."
Rumors suggest the smartphone will pack a quad core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 processor from Qualcomm, 3GB of RAM, a front facing 2.1 megapixel camera and a rear facing 16 megapixel camera.
