Nexus 6 Coming From Motorola With 5.9-inch Display: Rumors
The Nexus 6 or "Shamu" is going to be designed by Motorola, Android Police reports.
The device is reportedly going to come with a massive 5.9-inch display and a fingerprint sensor, according to the publication, with a launch likely set for sometime in November alongside the Android L release.
"The rumor this time is simple - according to information made available to us, Motorola is working on a device with Google code-named Shamu," the publication writes. "The device is supposed to be targeted at major U.S. carriers, and unspecified carriers in other parts of the world, which would probably include the markets that currently have access to Nexus devices, though this detail is still unclear."
Meanwhile, the publication's source mentioned the Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 tablet "in tandem when referring to Android's L release."
The Nexus 6 has been on a roller coaster of rumors in recent weeks, from being deemed a dead project to back alive again and looking worth the wait. One of the most buzzed-about elements of the rumored smartphone's release will be its design, as most speculation suggests that HTC will take on the task of building the next smartphone for Google.
That being said, with the good-looking designs the Taiwanese smartphone maker has created for some of its recent devices, most notably the flagship One M8, one concept designer couldn't wait to bring the device to life, creating a render of the Nexus 6 featuring an HTC-like touch.
As you can check out via Concept-Phones, the Nexus 6 concept features an edge-to-edge display with a One M8-like look brandishing speakers in the front and virtual keys in place of a home button. Designer Dmitry Stvolov's unibody design also packs a large camera sensor with dual-LED flash, but no other specs were listed - which really isn't all that important considering its a concept, anyway.
Overall, though, most consumers would probably be pleased with a Nexus 6 that looked like this.
