A new concept design for Apple's rumored upcoming smartwatch gives the device jock appeal.
The "iWatch Sport" is made for the active adult, with a look and specs list that would surely make it a hit with a broader range of consumers than previous smartwatch releases. The designers, iPhone Soft, envision the iWatch with an LED display, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC connectivity, an 800 mAh battery that can last five days without recharging, iOS 8 and Apple's "slide to unlock" concept, AppAdvice reports.
The concept, which is described as "affordable," would allow users to read text messages and answer calls via the same notification and even include Apple's personal assistant, Siri.
Overall, the device looks like an attractive combination between a Nike Fuel band and Apple wearable.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently expressed his belief that the iWatch will only be available in limited quantities in 2014, Mac Rumors reports.
According to Kuo, only three million devices could be in stores by the end of 2014, which he says is lower than market predictions of five to ten million because his supply chain information points to a late production date for the rumored Apple smartwatch.
Kuo added that he sees continued issues with the iWatch's sapphire display to blame, which, in turn, may force Apple to produce some of the devices with sapphire glass and others with regular glass. He also added that TPK will be the iWatch's touch module supplier.
GForGames, meanwhile, reports that the holiday season will be iWatch season in 2014.
The publication's "inside sources" from Apple's supply chain have informed them that the smartwatch will be released in December alongside the rumored 5.5-inch iPhone 6 or iPhone "Air" model.
The iWatch or iTime, as it has also been called, was recently tied for mass production start in November.
