Sprint's HTC One E8 smartphone is now available for purchase, subsequently offering interested consumers two new colors to choose from: Polar White and Misty Gray.
The carrier is offering the E8 for $99.99 on a two-year contract and $499.99 off-contract - a significant drop from the $199.99 on-contract and $649.99 off-contract prices for its flagship companion, the One M8. Sprint teased the arrival of the smartphone in mid-August when it uploaded an E8 video to its official Youtube account and then removed it.
The plastic version of the HTC flagship, the One E8 was originally launched in June in parts of Europe and Asia.
According to HTC's Weibo account, the tech giant previously sold 50,000 units of the E8 in just 15 minutes in China.
"# One public attention # 50,000 units, 15 minutes. HTC proud of each figure, by our common creation," HTC reportedly said on Weibo.
The One E8 is basically the One M8 in a polycarbonate casing with a dual-SIM option, CNET reports.
The device launched in color options of red, blue, black and white, with the Dual-SIM version - which allows users to take calls from two numbers on one handset - coming to some countries. Like its flagship companion, the One E8 features a 5-inch, 1080p screen, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, BoomSound audio and Motion Launch gesture control. A notable difference - other than the plastic back- between the two is that the E8 packs a 13-megapixel camera instead of the dual-lens specs packed into the M8. The E8 also packs a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Like the M8, the E8 also comes with DotView cases, which are fun-looking and convenient thanks to the perforations on the front for quick viewing.
The smartphone is seen as a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S5.
