Motorola's Nexus 6 has leaked in a photo for the first time.
While not much can be discerned of the massive smartphone's design, the image's publisher, Android Police, notes it does look a bit like the Moto X.
"The device appears to have the same overall shape we saw in yesterday's image with the characteristic corner curves of the Moto X (and other leaked devices), and a big giant screen (note the nav buttons)," writes Android Police. "Front facing speakers aren't immediately apparent (unless that gray line right below the screen is a speaker and not a prototype marking), but it goes without saying that it's almost impossible to tease out any detail from this photo. One thing that is visible in a commenter's version of the photo is a unique Motorola watermark, typical of the company's unreleased products."
As Android Police mentions, a mockup image of the device was also published Friday by 9to5Google, along with details about its looks, which the website claims will be similar to the second-generation Moto X (save for the size difference). The device's 5.92-inch display is also tipped for a 2560 x 1440 resolution.
The mockup was reportedly created based on an early version of the device that the website claims it saw.
The leak comes a couple days after Android Authority's report that the Nexus 6 will arrive in a few weeks alongside a new Nexus tablet designed by HTC.
The event will also reportedly debut "a new software initiative" believed to be Android L.
The publication's sources familiar with Google's plans tip two dates: Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 for the unveilings, but that the Android L update will not be released until Nov. 1.
Updated details on the alleged Nexus 6, which may release with the name Nexus X, also recently surfaced on GFXBench.
The specs for the upcoming smartphone fall in-line with those recently leaked via an AnTuTu benchmark, including a 5.2-inch display (2560 x 1440), 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 12MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing shooter, a barometer, NFC, and Android L.
While this benchmark tips the device for a 5.2-inch display, it has been rumored that Google could release a 5.2-inch and a 5.9-inch version.
