The X-men is franchise has skyrocketed with fans ever since it started. Eager Marvel and movie fanatics wonder what the next installment will be. However, there has been a hint that points to the Dark Phoenix Saga.
Every Marvel fan knows that there is a teaser clip after the credits and "X-Men: Apocalypse" is no stranger to that. Even though there were some negative reviews to the movie, it still did justice to teasing fans with what to expect next. Even though the tidbit is short, CinemaBlend said that fans have already considered matters and are making theories that point to The Dark Phoenix Saga.
These theories about the X-men upcoming movie may seem to be seconded by Production Weekly, a site that researches and constantly updates on movie projects in different stages of development. As seen in the latest update, a project at the bottom shows the phrase "X-men: Supernova." Although there are two possible working titles: "Dark Phoenix" and "Teen Spirit." The appearance of the phrase in Production Weekly further corroborates with the fans' speculations.
Both working titles could be possible as after "X-men: Apocalypse", the two can coincide with it. It could go with "Teen Spirit" which took place in the 90's or it could follow through to the Dark Phoenix Saga. Fans are hoping for the latter as they claim that the Dark Phoenix Saga is one of the most iconic storylines in the X-men franchise.
In the X-men graphic novels, Jean Grey was possessed by an entity known as Phoenix who makes her its host thus turning her into the evil character known as the Dark Phoenix. In the movies, however, the producers seem to be working with the idea that the Dark Phoenix has already been part of Jean Grey since.
There was supposed to be that hope during "X-men: the Last Stand" in 2006 but since there was none, fans felt disappointed. But with that teaser at the end of "X-men: Apocalypse", Dark Phoenix is a high possibility. Whatever premise they choose to work with this time around, the X-men franchise sure knows how to get back on their feet and make amends with its fans.
