According to Forbes, the Eiffel Tower 2.5-metre bulletproof high glass was announced by Mayor Anne Hidalgo last Thursday. The aim of this is to secure the landmark after the threatening terrorist attacks last year while getting a huge upgrade. It will include the removal of the eyesore metal barrier installed for the last Euro 2016 Football.
Paris government decided to take up its security much seriously for Eiffel Tower. "The terror threat remains high in Paris, and the most vulnerable sites, starting with the Eiffel Tower, must be the object of special security measures," Deputy Mayor Jean-Francois Martins said as quoted by the Guardian.
The 2.5-metre bulletproof high glass will further secure Eiffel as it will be placed on the south and north areas of the land marker. For the meantime, nothing is further released about the possible material or features it will have because the developer contract is still in the bidding process. More details about the security barrier will surely be released in the coming days.
Moreover, the same report also tackles how Eiffel Tower 2.5-metre bulletproof high glass will supposedly begin only the grand $300 Million modernization and facelift it will have. The repair and refit are declared to run for some years as it will also include visitor experience enhancement as well.
