Verizon will now have its own smartwatch line and the first model it will release is called the Wear24. This Android wear smartwatch will be a much affordable option compared to its competitors and will be like Verizon’s Ellipsis tablets. The watch will be available to the market in March 2017.
In a report posted by Android Central, Verizon is said to be releasing their own brand of Android smartwatch that is inspired by the Ellipsis tablets but in a watch. It is said to be similar to the LG Watch Sports like its physical design including a circular display, metal casing and attached big bands. It will also come with 1.39-inch AMOLED display, water resistant, and equipped with NFC, 450 mAh battery power. The only difference it will have is its thinner with a measure of only 13.5 mm.
According to The Verge, the new Android smartwatch will also be installed with the standard features a smartwatch has but boasts its own default watch faces. Of course, users will have the choice to customize it or have it automatically change based on the user’s location. The watch will cost $299 when availed with a two-year contract in Verizon which makes it $30 cheaper than the LG watch.
Verizon is a broadband telecommunications company and is considered to be the biggest provider of wireless communication in the U.S. as of 2014. The company was founded and one of the seven Baby Bells that was grouped after the company AT&T was required to give its authority over the Bell System as ordered by the United States Justice Department.
Today the company operates four different business units including residential, enterprise services, small business services, residential, and wireless services. They provide handsets, SMS, and internet services for mobile phones, computers, tablets, hotspot devices and now even smartwatches.
