You Get To Own The Famous Grey Gardens Estate!
The Grey Gardens Estate is being offered up for sale after a couple of decades. This Estate was popularized by "Grey Gardens," a 1975 documentary that featured the prestigious Kennedys.
According to Town and Country, the Grey Gardens Estate has been off the market for 40 years. The Estate's previous owners were relatives of Jackie Kennedy (neé Onassis). This place also inspired an HBO movie as well as a Broadway musical. This home has been around since 1897 and was purchased by the cousin and aunt of Jackie Kennedy. The owners, Edith Bouvier Beale, and Edith Beale, (Jackie's relatives) bought the house for 19.995 million USD during the 1920s.
There are 7 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms in the Grey Gardens Estate according to Cottages and Gardens. The house itself just reflects the grandeur as it spans 6,000 square feet and has spacious living spaces. Their renowned gardens that gave the location its name remains as prestigious as ever.
Grey Gardens Estate is located at 3 West End Road in East Hampton. It was actually put up for lease before finally being on the sales list. The owners following the relatives of the Kennedys were Sally Quinn and her late husband and Washington Post editor, Ben Bradlee. The two of them renovated majority of the estate and managed to restore the splendor the estate used to have. But, they also added touches of modernity and new structures to improvise the house.
The modern additions made for the Grey Gardens Estate was a gunite pool and a Har-Tru tennis court. Both of which did not really have any major change to the location but rather a great improvisation. With all these staples, you can now get to experience a VIP seat on how it feels like to live in the Hamptons.
