University of the Third Age to start in Winchcombe: Learn Architecture and other Skills
From architecture to chess to bird watching - these are just some of the lessons that the University of the Third Age in Winchcombe plans to have. They are deciding on opening their very own branch in their area and people are excited.
Gloucestershire Live reported that Winchcombe has made a decision to make its own branch of the University of the Third Age or U3A in their humble town. This decision came from a group of residents in the area who gave out questionnaires surveying the people's response whether they are open for the proposed idea. The response given by the people was a very enthusiastic one that prompted the said group to hold a meeting.
The people's positive response would come off as no surprise as the Winchcombe University of the Third Age can help many of the citizens. The University of the Third Age (U3A) is an organization focused on providing life-enhancing opportunities for the retired and semi-retired residents. How the University of the Third Age works is that their members share their skills and abilities with each other thus developing a superb, professional symbiosis. This means that a learner can also be a teacher and vice versa.
Winchcombe, aware of the positive outcome of the University of the Third Age gathered in the Winchcombe School Hall for their meeting. The expected people to attend the meeting was just around a hundred but the group responsible for organizing the said meeting met a pleasant surprise. There was beyond a hundred people who attended the said event which then proved that the citizens were definitely open to starting their own Winchcombe branch.
WInchcombe branch follows the same objective and guidelines of the University of the Third Age but focuses more on architecture, history of art, bird watching, and even chess. In record, there are other active branches of the University of the Third Age in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, and Bishops Cleeve. This idea can do a lot for the society and would be good if it would be international.
