New Google Campus images features a more publicly-open and environmentally-friendly design. Google's project has some ambitious architectural and environmental goals.
It appears that Google is extending its arms, not just to professionals, but to the general public as well. According to Inhabitat, the Google Campus is aimed at becoming a "destination for the local community."
The campus will have a variety of areas, from wide open plaza spaces to quiet, more "intimate" private spaces. There's even pedestrian walkways and various bike lanes scattered all throughout the the facility.
The Google Campus not only accommodates various people, it hopes to accommodate animals too. In an effort to aid the environment, Google has extended their hand in helping preserve the declining burrowing owl species.
Various shrubs and burrowing owl food sources have been placed around the campus. Of course, areas where owl predators could thrive, were kept away from the Google Campus.
As for the design itself, the campus looks as environmentally-friendly as Google's nature preserving efforts. According to Archinect, various shops and cafes run through a "green loop" surrounding the campus' central structure.
The large compound in the middle is designed with lots of mounds and curves. The design itself has a sort of Eastern touch, reminiscent of structures in ancient Japan.
Heatherwick Studio collaborated with BIG in order to come up with the design of the Google Campus. Based on what's been revealed so far, the design draws inspiration from the environment itself.
The campus is surrounded with lots of trees coupled with structures that are Eco-friendly in design. And speaking of trees, that is the one element that never fails to appear in each of the design blueprint pictures.
There's clearly a large emphasis on plant-life and trees in general. The Google Campus design itself looks as lively as it is green. The fact that the tech giant hopes to accommodate the local community suggests that the campus is becoming more of a recreational park. If that's the case, the Google Campus will undoubtedly be the premiere hangout destination for anyone staying in the local area.
