You Won't Believe Who Won the Prestigious Pritzker Prize this Year!

Three Catalonian architects Rafael Arnda, Came Pigem and Ramon Vilalta just made it as 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize winners. Indeed, the trio's unusual esteem was due to their reputation for building and designing structure sensitive to local context.

According to Pritzker Prize official website, the 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize victors were chosen due to their approach to globalized yet traditional architectures. Aranda, Pigem and Vilalta's RCR Arquitectes design studio catered to their roots more, they resisted the urban call to help their people through architecture.

The 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize trio's notable works adhere on the place's local color: history, topography, culture, season and needs. All their materials and design widely connects with the said aspects.

"The Marquee" is one example of their prowess. The 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize winners created Les Cols Restaurant's stunning modern outdoor dining and event space. They also recreated a valley to fit a public space, which was done creatively without destroying nature.

"They've demonstrated that unity of a material can lend such incredible strength and simplicity to a building," the Guardian quote dChair of the Pritzker jury Glenn Murcutt as saying. "The collaboration of these three architects produces uncompromising architecture of a poetic level, representing timeless work that reflects great respect for the past while projecting clarity that is the present and the future," he added.

Murcutt believed that 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize really belongs to the trio. Their architectural passion and beliefs are what the award looks for, as they demonstrated honor for humanity and environment through the art of architecture.

To end, Rafael Arnda, Came Pigem and Ramon Vilalta as 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize winners received $100,000 and a bronze medal. They will now be included on the award' hall of laureates.
