From May 17 to May 20, 2014, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair will hold its 26th edition. For this year, ICFF is featuring nine leading interior designers that collaborated with fabric and furnishings showrooms to showcase the important role of textiles in the furniture and design industry.
The nine designers who are exhibiting their works are Noha Hassan for Knoll, Samuel Botero for Donghia, Robert Passal for Quadrille, Jamie Drake for Jim Thompson, Juan Pablo-Molyneux for Rogers & Goffigon, Ellie Cullman for Romo, Geoffrey Bradfield for Zimmer & Rhode, Stephen Bastone for Christopher Hyland and Guillaume Gentet for Savel.
This initiative with the ICFF is headed by Christopher Hyland, the owner of HYLAND Top Designers & Textiles and the editor-in-chief of HYLAND magazine.
The designers worked with their selected fabrics and exhibited them with a series of 50-foot panels divided into sections. A brief description on the designer, fabric, and their selected materials are provided on each panel.
According to Hyland, the collaboration of designers and showrooms were done through random pickings as they placed 100 names in a hat, drew out nine random showroom houses and paired them with the participating interior designers.
Kevin O’Keefe, GLM Senior Vice President said, “With HYLAND’s Top Designers & Textiles- an exceptional exhibit that challenges nine of the industry’s leading designers to face off with their ideal fabric- Christopher Hyland, a noted textile expert, brings a fresh point of view and a new decorative dimension to the ICFF.”
Hyland also said that this kind of collaboration is the first of its kind in the ICFF and they’re planning to hold another again for next year with a different group of showroom-designer collaboration.A full issue of the ICFF exhibition will be covered by HYLAND magazine. In addition, the magazine will also grant the annual HYLAND Awards to different categories across the exhibitors in the ICFF. The exhibitor with the most innovative idea or product during the ICFF show will receive $1,000 as well as a credit of $4,500 which is equivalent to the cost of the booth for next year’s event. The winner will also get a room in the Holiday House which will take place during fall season.
