Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the most brilliant modern architects, interior designers and authors, was known for his “Usonian Homes” which have the distinctive characteristic of a visual connection between interior and exterior environments.
If visiting these houses is on top of your architectural bucket list, then maybe you should add “staying in a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian Home for a night,” too. That’s right. Some of his residential works are now available for rent.
In Chicago, you can stay at the Emil Bach House which was built in 1915. After its restoration, the 2,000 square feet residence is now open for rent at $750 per night before June 1 and $1495 per night afterwards. Guests are required to stay for a minimum of two nights from Thursday to Saturday.
One of Wright’s largest Usonian homes would be the Elam House which grosses up to 3,500 square feet. The facade has towering limestone piers while the interiors have floor to ceiling fireplaces and 100 windows, making the home undeniably airy.
In Wisconsin, you can rent out the Seth Peterson cottage which has a spectacular expansive view of the woods and Mirror Lake. Guests can stay at the 800 square feet rental property for $300 per night. Another Wisconsin property would be the Bernard Schwartz House.
Other properties available for rental are the Louis Penfield House in Ohio, Duncan House in Pennsylvania, The Haynes House in Indiana, The Palmer House in Michigan, and The Gordon House in Oregon.
