Patricia Kluetz, Jane Garland Lucas and Shashi Caan Receive ASID Recognition
On June 21, 2014, Patricia Kluetz, Jane Garland Lucas and Shashi Caan will be inducted and will be awarded with the title of “Fellows” by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) during ASID’s event called “Celebration: THE ASID Awards Gala”. The event will be held at Paramount Picture Studios in Los Angeles.
Patricia Kluetz is an interior architecture professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and has been a nurturing mentor and faculty advisor to design students in the university for almost two decades. Under her guidance, students in the University received numerous recognition including Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year in 2006. On her part, Kluetz has already received four Wisconsin Chapter Presidential Citation and a Chapter Educator Medalist Award. She is also an active member of ASID.
Jane Garland Lucas is considered a design leader in almost all aspects. Aside from being an active practitioner in the field for 30 years with JGL Interiors, Lucas is also a mentor, an author, a legislative advocate and a volunteer. She has served leadership positions for ASID in both New England and Texas chapters. Lucas is also a passionate supporter of legislative initiatives on the profession and spearheaded the Massachusetts coalition for interior design legislation for 12 years. Lucas also serves as a member of the faculty and board of colleges and universities for three states.
Shashi Caan is mainly described as a “design advocate” and a “visionary”. Caan is one of the leading educators and practitioners in the field and has been internationally recognized for her progressive design thinking that has strong impact on society and unification of the design community in the global sense. Caan runs the Shashi Caan Collective which is world-renowned for innovative collaborative ideology that places design projects within the level of social relevant. Caan currently serves as the president of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI).
The ASID Fellow award is the highest distinction granted by ASID.
