Coastal Living magazine has recently announced their top 10 choices for 2014 Coastal Design Trendsetters. This is the second time that the magazine created a list of designers who are making names in the industry with their homes by the shore.
Antonia van der Meer, the magazine’s editor-in-chief said, “These designers are masters at crafting spaces that celebrate life along the coast.”
Gideon Mendelson, “The Curator” approaches every space with cinematic flair, with him as the director and the interiors as his film. With Mendelson’s modern eclectic take, his clients are delightedly surprised with his treatment of their homes.
Jeffrey Alan Marks was tagged “The Virtuoso” as he creates interiors with effortless combination of easy Californian vibe and elegant European feel. Marks describes his style as “couture design for barefoot living.”
Rachel Reider, who is based in Boston, is known for repurposing historic spaces and giving them life with bold, quirky and whimsical interiors.
Annie Selke, called as “The Reinventor” gives refreshing takes on the traditional, with examples of her work with Americana which now has a coastal vibe fit for today’s generation.
Trina Turk brings out her “Californian” vibe which is optimistic, quirky and sunny into her fashion line and into her collection of home fabrics.Historic beach homes are Lewin Wertheimer’s element. Weirtheimer creates spaces that give a sense of place combined with authentic details.
Serena Dugan of Serena and Lilly has created iconic and characteristically bold styles through her brand. Dugan takes design inspiration from Atlantic beaches where she spent most of her childhood.
Karen Robertson works from the outside to the inside with her “Naturalist” flair. Through her handmade seashell crafts, Robertson has produced oversize sea fans, decorative flowers and trumeau mirrors made from corals.
John Robshaw takes traveling seriously as he does with his designs. Robshaw studies the works of locals, weavers and artisans from South America to Southeast Asia. Robshaw reinterprets the patterns that he saw and combines them his signature laid back designs, thereby reflecting the transformative vibe of living within the coast.
Amanda Nisbet draws upon the colors of the East Coast when designing spaces, producing creatively original patterns and hues. “The Color Whisperer” often takes subtle hints of colors that allows her to create interiors that surprisingly work together with her concept.
