Fifteen years in the making, the realization of Promenade Samuel-de Champlain marks a significant milestone for Quebec's urban development. Conceived by architecture studio Daoust Lestage Lizotte Stecke, the project was born from the vision of the Commission de la Capitale Nationale du Québec to reclaim the St. Lawrence River's edge from highways and rail corridors that once marred its beauty.
A Journey Along the Promenade
Forming the longest span of 2.5 km along the St. Lawrence River, Promenade Samuel-de Champlain offers local residents and visitors from other places a tour of discoveries and relaxation. An area that had deteriorated over the years was chosen for improvement. Architects drew ideas from the natural curves of a river and the city's industrial past to finally bring the two together gracefully, combining architecture and landscape design, resulting in a beautiful picture of the past and the present. In addition to woods, dock-like forms have been used to give monuments and feelings of nostalgia and authenticity.

Right behind is Cente de Pavillon des Baigneur, a main service building through which it comes into being and serves as a meeting place for engagement with the neighborhood. Through its massive granite structure and generous window screens, the shack offers a chance to escape the urban jungle while seemingly in the middle of the woods. Beachcomber here has access to sand, which lies between toes and is surrounded by green sea lime, acting as a backdrop for the tempting smell of the snack bar.
