Parsons Interior Design Shines in ‘Paths to Professionalism’ Exhibition at New York Port Authority
It certainly has been said that Parsons School of Design is the one that often catches attention when outstanding works of its students are exhibited. However, its success story was in part due to when it was featured at "Paths to Professionalism" at the New York Port Authority exhibition, which is one of the most recognizable events. Over the last two months, this place was often overwhelmed with the noise of commuters, travelers and tourists moving forward at one of New York City's busiest intersections, but the halls of the famous Port Authority have been crammed with the creative projects of the best eight-for interior design students of our city represented by prized schools, such as Parsons.
The Exhibition
Organized by New York Eleven Plus, an entity focused on elevating awareness of the design discipline and espousing the shift it produces, the exhibition seeks to add elements of enlightenment to the training of the students that are in their final year as they prepare for professional interior design. Besides Parsons, the other notable universities like the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT SUNY), New York Institute of Technology, and the Pratt Institute also came on board, each one being a unique and distinctive one, making the entirety of the exhibiting shows all the more interesting and varied.
Carly Cannell's Vision
Carly Cannell, the BFA Chair of Interior Design Program at Parsons, portrayed her desire for the exhibition to engage the participants and allow them to express themselves. She captured the deliberate hard work poured into the projects being exhibited and how it reflects the honor that students were given to place their work is a demonstration of their potential for success. The aspect of this event which is the embodiments of Parsons, concepts of: ingenuity, innovation, and inclusiveness is what was driving us into such a platform.
Parsons' Values on Display
The selected works from Parsons' students encapsulated the essence of the institution's values, serving as a testament to its commitment to fostering creativity and pushing boundaries within the field of interior design. Canell explored the NY11+ activity and she emphasized the need for the graded work, in particular theses and projects, as a way of telling the public about advantages and prospects of designing interiors for the living.
Community Engagement
The center of Parson's presence in the city community was a belief that they have to touch a bigger NYC community and to encourage students' creative routes as a whole. Keynote speaker Cannell reaffirmed the importance of avenues like "Paths to Professionalism" as a venue for building a culture of learning and open communication across societal divides where people irrespective of their backgrounds can converge to celebrate their creativity and innovative instinct.
Building Ecosystems
Apart from presenting the talents of its students, Parson 's involvement into an exhibition proved that creation of a compelling, creative ecosystem within NYC as well as abroad is the University's main priority here. Through the medium of "Paths to Professionalism," aspiring interior designers can have first-hand experience of what is taking place in the real world, to act as a tool to promote development, growth and professionalism in the design field. The next generation of the world-class designers starts here.
As the Parsons' exhibition draws to a close, the reverberation of the presence made in the midst of the Port Authority New York can be felt not only in the walls of this immense transportation hub but also beyond, within the wider field of design. It encourages to think about the art size capacity of interior design and the part it plays in fashioning our vivifying environment. Creativity edge is respected by Parsons' reputation for collaboration, innovation and excellence. As a result, the latter never stops challenging accepted norms and inspiring the next generation to bring about the change.
