Samsung Galaxy F (S5 Prime) Bluetooth Certified: Rumor

Samsung's highly-rumored Galaxy F/S5 Prime smartphone may have surfaced for bluetooth certification,GSMArena reports.

The device in question features the model number G901F, which could be the rumored smartphone. However, the publication adds that there are other likely possibilities:

"A safe guess would be an international version of the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, it happened to the Galaxy S4 LTE-A, which was similarly Korea-only at first. Samsung already put a QHD Super AMOLED and the latest Snapdragon chipset on the S5 LTE-A, what more could they add?"

The Samsung Galaxy F (also referred to as the Galaxy S5 Prime) has been rumored for quite some time, but as Apple Insider reports, the Apple rival may have decided to wait to release the device, which is allegedly the first metal Galaxy smartphone, until the rumored fall unveilings of the iPhone 6:

"With a 4.7-inch iPhone rumored to be on the horizon, Samsung is reportedly readying its first non-plastic handset for a September unveiling in what could be an attempt to stave off defections from Galaxy buyers waiting for a larger-screened option from Apple."

On Wednesday, leaker @evleaks offered up what he claims to be a press render of the Galaxy F.

The image kicked back up speculation that the smartphone will feature a heart-rate sensor, however, as GSMArena notes, the image could be photoshopped, as the website claims it looks "suspiciously like last month's "perfect gold" shot."

Phandroid reports that the Galaxy F/S5 Prime has passed through the FCC with the model numbers SM-G906S, G906K, and G906L, simultaneously revealing its dimensions, as well. According to the FCC paperwork, the smartphone measures 72.5mm x 142mm: identical to the current flagship GS5. As the website notes, the device is rumored for a 5.2-inch display, so it will be intriguing to see how it would incorporate the larger display in the same body.

Earlier benchmark results found on GFXBench, similarly suggest the S5 "Prime" features a 5.2-inch display with QHD resolution (2,560×1,440 pixels) - making it a bit larger than the standard GS5, but with twice the resolution. Additional specs listed for the device include a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor (that GS5 packs a 801), a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter.
