In Tokyo's vibrant Roppongi district, the Roppongi Museum is set to unveil a captivating exhibition this June titled "Miss Dior: Stories of a Miss," designed by OMA/Shohei Shigematsu. This immersive showcase celebrates the iconic Miss Dior perfume, an emblem of elegance and innovation since its debut in 1946 alongside Christian Dior's revolutionary "The New Look."

The Journey Through Seven Rooms

The exhibition is meticulously crafted as a journey through seven distinct rooms, each designed to unveil different facets of the perfume's 78-year legacy. It's not just a chronological narrative but a multidimensional exploration of the cultural impact and artistic inspirations that have shaped Miss Dior over the decades.

The first room, "Miss Dior: Stories of a Miss," sets the stage with a preview of artifacts and scaled reproductions, offering a glimpse into what lies ahead. Moving forward, "Miss Dior by Eva Jospin" transports visitors into a dome-like space reminiscent of classical architecture, adorned with embroidered tapestries by artist Eva Jospin. At its heart, a special edition of the Miss Dior perfume, designed in collaboration with Jospin, takes center stage.

In "Fields of Flowers," guests are enveloped in an olfactory experience where they can sample the five floral scents of the latest Miss Dior perfume, dispersed through delicate flower-shaped atomizers set against a backdrop that evokes the texture of couture fabric. The journey continues with "Stories of a Miss," where a ribbon motif unravels the narrative threads of Miss Dior's evolution.

"Miss Dior: The Birth of Ready-to-Wear" pays homage to Dior's groundbreaking venture into ready-to-wear fashion in 1967, featuring vibrant geometric displays celebrating the intersection of fashion and architecture. "Dior Illustrated" showcases life-sized prints by renowned illustrators René Gruau and Mats Gustafson, highlighting their interpretations of the Miss Dior legacy through captivating visual narratives.

The exhibition culminates in "The Miss Dior Dream," a sensory feast combining couture garments, artworks, and designer perfume bottles within an immersive landscape that invites visitors to experience the essence of Miss Dior in a new light.

OMA's Influence in Creative Fields

In the realm of architecture and its intersections with creative fields like fashion, OMA continues to make significant strides. Their research, branding, and publication studio AMO recently unveiled the set design for Prada's 2024 Fall/Winter Menswear Show. The show, which took place in the OMA-designed Foundation Prada in Milan, positioned the office and the natural landscapes within the architectural structure, proving that architecture can act as a setting and a link between the wearing collections.
