HTC One M8 Windows Phone Model In Works For Late 2014 Release Date: Rumor
The HTC One M8 is getting a Windows Phone redesign, according to the Verge's Tom Warren.
With a Google Play model already available to consumers, it appears the device is going to get another new look, which would apparently get a release later this year:
"Oh and HTC is working on a Windows Phone version of the One. Should be out later this year."- Tom Warren (@tomwarren) July 27, 2014
As 9 to 5 Google notes, the update falls in line with a recent report that indicated a feature list of Windows Phone 8.1 lists "support for smart cases" on the change log. The One M8, of course, released with its own dot smart cases.
An earlier comment from Nick Parker, Microsoft's vice president of OEM partners, similarly suggested the company could be planning an HTC One M8 with a Windows Phone redesign:
"I'd love to break some news here if I could, Parker said at Computex. "But instead I'll just say that Microsoft will continue to have a great relationship with HTC. New things are coming, so get excited."
As Gizmodo UK notes, trusted leaker @evleaks has also tipped an HTC One "W8," which he claims will be a US Verizon exclusive. Evleaks also added that the device will feature the same BoomSound and Duo Camera specs packed into the flagship M8. Should the W8 pack the same specs as the M8, you can expect a 5-inch, full HD 1080p screen, a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, Sense 6.0, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a 2800 mAh battery, microSD support and three cameras, including two on the back.
