TMZ reported that Tamara Mellon, co-founder of Jimmy Choo filed a lawsuit against famous designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard. According to Mellon, Bullard, who appeared on Bravo’s “Million Dollar Decorators” overcharged her for his interior design services worth $2 Million.
Mellon said that Bullard’s work would not even be passable for a college frat house and thus her decision to sue the famous designer. Last week, an L.A. judge ruled that the lawsuit will not be dismissed.
Mellon said that Bullard is a “media whore” as he would constantly flaunt his list of well-known clientele such as Eva Mendes, Aaron Sorkin, Cher and Christina Aguilera. This list was his way of overcharging his new clients and then deliver substandard products.
Tamara hired Bullard to design her posh apartment in New York City as well as her home in the Hamptoms. However, Mellon said that right after the designer’s work was done, she noticed a lot of damages in both her homes. Bookshelves started too fall apart, a chandelier was installed dangerously and could potentially kill someone in an instant, wallpaper was already peeling off from the walls and the wallspeaker was painted over. Mellon cited other examples that made her thoroughly disappointed with Bullard’s services.
Mellon also claimed that the designer charged her highly for the design of her Hamptons house and when she took it up to Bullard, he said “I cannot possibly work on a limited budget.”
Mellon’s lawsuit, filed by Eric George, also stated that Bullard charged her with $35,000 for eight chairs which she said he only bought from a chain store in a mall. She also claimed that Bullard used a crane to lift a misjudged piece of marble in her NYC apartment, charged her for the crane fee and then added a 67 per cent mark up for himself.
