With Apple's 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus helping set record pre-order figures and ready to hit stores this coming Friday, many consumers are scratching their heads as to why Samsung has yet to announce when they can get their hands on the Galaxy Note 4.
While no official date has been set, BGR reports that a new Samsung ad aimed at the new iPhones notes that the device will release sometime in October - meaning the 6 Plus is going to have a serious competitor on the shelves fairly soon.
Three more Galaxy Note 4 models have passed through the FCC, Blog of Mobile reports.
SM-N9109W, SM-N910U and SM-N910G received the thumbs-up, following the AT&T version's certification last week. SM-N91091W is reportedly the Chinese Telecom variant, while the other two are currently unidentified Note 4 models. Other models have also reportedly received their Bluetooth certification.
As GBM notes, as these models continue to pop up for their certifications, we are slowly nearing closer to the announcement of the device's official release date, which will be sometime in October.
The phablet certainly looks like it's going to be a legitimate competitor to the iPhone 6 Plus. The Note 4 features a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution (518 ppi), next-generation S Pen, runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and packs a 16-megapixel main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), eight-times digital zoom and what Samsung says is its own version of HDR image compositing. The device also packs a 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera and a F1.9 aperture for improved shooting in low-light conditions.
The device comes with a 3,220mAh battery aided by a "Rapid Charging" feature that can jack up the battery 50 percent in 30 minutes and the same "Ultra Power Saving" mode offered in the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Tab S. A microSD card slot offers for an additional 64GB of storage.
Samsung also announced that it will be available with a 2.7GHz quad-core CPU, although they did not specify, and dual quad-core CPUs. Design-wise, Samsung has equipped the Note 4 with a metal frame and faux-leather back.
The device can also be paired with the virtual reality headset, the Gear VR.
