Looking for that edge to pull the trigger on one of the newest phablet releases? Look no further than the display battle.
With the LG G3 already positioned on the market for several months and a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus set to arrive soon, Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 has some stiff competition - but not when it comes down to display quality.
According to DisplayMate, the new Note offers the best display they have ever tested in a smartphone - quite the statement.
Here's a breakdown of their analysis:
"Based on our extensive Lab tests and measurements, the Galaxy Note 4 is the Best performing Smartphone display that we have ever tested. It matches or breaks new records in Smartphone display performance for: Highest Absolute Color Accuracy, Highest Screen Resolution, Infinite Contrast Ratio, Highest Peak Brightness, Highest Contrast Rating in Ambient Light, and the smallest Brightness Variation with Viewing Angle. Its Color Management capability provides multiple Color Gamuts - a major advantage that is not currently provided by any of the other leading Smartphones. The Galaxy Note 4 delivers uniformly consistent all around Top Tier display performance: it is the first Smartphone display to ever get all Green (Very Good to Excellent) Ratings in all test and measurement categories (except one Yellow for a Brightness Variation with Average Picture Level) since we started the Display Technology Shoot-Out article Series in 2006, an impressive achievement for a display. The Galaxy Note 4 has again raised the bar for top display performance up by another notch."
The Note 4 features a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution (518 ppi), next-generation S Pen, runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and packs a 16-megapixel main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), eight-times digital zoom and what Samsung says is its own version of HDR image compositing. The device also packs a 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera and a F1.9 aperture for improved shooting in low-light conditions.
The device comes with a 3,220mAh battery aided by a "Rapid Charging" feature that can jack up the battery 50 percent in 30 minutes and the same "Ultra Power Saving" mode offered in the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Tab S. A microSD card slot offers for an additional 64GB of storage.

Samsung also announced that it will be available with a 2.7GHz quad-core CPU, although they did not specify, and dual quad-core CPUs. Design-wise, Samsung has equipped the Note 4 with a metal frame and faux-leather back.
The Galaxy Note 4 can also be paired with the virtual reality headset, the Gear VR.
