Recycled Furniture Has Never Looked This Stylish, Thanks to New Online Company, Chairish!
It’s almost everyone’s idea of a cheap thrill to find a gorgeous second-hand piece of furniture in a weekend flea market. Of course, using recycled furniture is emerging as the number one way of decorating an eco-chic home. However, there are a few obstacles that you might encounter when it comes to buying recycled furniture.
One major issue would be to find time to scour garage sales and thrift markets. Of course, there’s an option to buying online. In the past, Craigslist and eBay were the go-to websites for scouring pre-owned home items, but their recent reputation when it comes to scammers has meant that the buying and selling processes aren't that trustworthy anymore. Lastly, buying recycled furniture almost always means having to do some DIY work as the finish or the hardware most likely don't work as part of your decor.
Luckily, we found a relatively new e-tailer (established in February 2013) that curates consignment furniture online- Chairish. According to their Crunchbase profile, US-based Chairish is actually the first of its kind in the world and their website is the “marketplace for design-obsessed people to buy and sell exceptional pre-owned home furnishings.”
Looking at their website, it seems that this is the newest online hangout for design-lovers who want to save on their moolah. And it looks very easy to navigate as well.
Their furniture pieces are classified according to type or collection so you can easily find the pieces that match the theme, color, or look that you are aiming for. Aside from that, their “City Area” tab will help you check which sellers are within your vicinity, which makes it even more convenient. They also have a category called “Curator’s Pick” which showcases the top picks from chief curator, Anna Brockway.
And if you’re looking for even greater savings, mouse over to their “Markdowns” category to start with your shopping.
The website was founded by Anna Brockway, Nancy Ramamurthi, Gregg Brockway, Eric Grosse and Andy Denmark who collectively have a wealth of experience in the interior design arena.
In December 10, 2013, Chairish also launched their iPhone mobile app which allows furniture-lovers to buy and sell vintage furniture. Sellers can upload their old furniture pieces using the application and buyers can make their offers while they are on the go. The Chairish mobile app can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store. happy hunting!
