Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago is likely to cost more than triple of what the George W. Bush Museum cost. This is according to new reports, which suggest that the Center has an estimated value of $1.5 billion.
The reason may be due to the fact that the Barack Obama Presidential Center is going to house not just one institution, but two: a museum of the lives of the former president and wife and also a presidential library. It should be noted, though, that former Pres. Obama prevented doing much fundraising he was still in the office, which makes it more difficult to create more funds. That said, the designer of the Center, Tod William of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects believes that it will not be easy, given that it is not only about preserving the past, but also about the future, Archinect reported.
Meanwhile, the location of the Barack Obama Presidential Center has been finalized to be in Jackson Park in Chicago, and it is said that it will be the first time that a Presidential Center will be built in the heart of an urban community. The exact site is found near Lake Michigan that is only a short walk away from the University of Chicago, where the former president used to teach.
Other likely locations for the Barack Obama Presidential Center is reportedly New York City, where Obama went to college and Hawaii, his birthplace. However, in the end, Chicago won.
Incidentally, Obama lived there before moving his family to Washington, DC on his first term in 2019. Chicago City is said to be Obama family's choice. This means that they could return to the people of Chicago who have been a great support, Blasting News reported. Watch Obama's Presidential Library May Need $1.5 Billion here:
