The list of participants for the Chicago Architectural Biennial has been announced. The event will be held starting September 16 up until January 7, 2018 in Chicago.
According to Arch Daily, there are more than 100 firms and artists that have been selected. The selection was done by the 2017 artistic directors Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee. These artists are from 30 different countires.
Johnston and Lee are founders of the firm Johnston Marlee, a firm that is based in Los Angeles. The participants are to design exhibitions that will be displayed at the Chicago Cultural Center and all throughout the city.
Johnston and Lee shared that the goal for the 2017 Chicago Architectural Biennial is for the artists to create designs based on the themes from the first edition. This is already the second edition for the said event.
Curbed Chicago reported that the theme for this year's Chicago Architectural Biennial event is "Make New History." Mayor Rahm Emanuel already welcomed the event in the Windy City. He noted that the participants are outstanding lineup basing on the success from the previous event in 2015.
Emanuel also noted that the 2017 Chicago Architectural Biennial event is a way for designers from all over the globe to showcase their works. He added that this event will also make Chicago's stature to be reinforced as a global city.
Meanwhile, Arch Paper indicated the list of participants for the 2017 Chicago Architectural Biennial. Aside from participants coming from different cities and countries, there are also firms that are Chicago based that are part of the said event.
It is indicated that the participants for the 2017 Chicago Architectural Biennial were carefully chosen to showcase their designs in the event. These participants are to create designs that will showcase the future of architecture. The event will also showcase designs rooted from history.
